Happy Martin Luther King day!

We’re going to be closed on Monday, January 16th. Normal hours resume on Tuesday, January 17th

While we know that most people don’t get to take Monday off, we encourage all our customers to take a moment to listen to or read one of Dr King’s speeches (maybe one of the less well known ones). Before and after the holiday, stop in and peruse our collection of writings by and about other Black trailblazers and activists, our collections on racial relations in the US, on slavery, on civil rights and on political movements. It’s a great time to better understand the past and make plans to better our country’s future.

“A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.”

-MLK, 1967
